Chrysler to launch safest and most luxurious Grand Voyager ever
The all-new Chrysler Grand Voyager promises to be the most luxurious family vehicle ever when it launches in the UK in February 2008.

The new seven-seat Chrysler Grand Voyager has an all-new exterior and interior design plus an updated range of petrol and diesel engines and boasts more than 30 new features which will help make the new 2008 model the ultimate family car. New features include heated first and second row seats; rear-view interior conversation mirror; a removable torch in the rear quarter panel; electric windows in the power sliding second-row doors; movable LED reading lamps and automatic three-zone climate control for all passengers.

To keep passengers entertained an optional dual-DVD system with two screens is available so second-row passengers can play a game or watch a different film to those in the third row while the MyGIG infotainment system offers MP3 player compatibility, a touch screen and voice-controlled navigation system as well being able to store up to approximately 1600 songs on an integrated 20GB hard drive.

Passenger safety is also well catered for. Traction control and ESP, tyre-pressure monitoring, front and all-row side-curtain airbags, as well as seven full-size seats with fixings for three Isofix child seats all come as standard across the range.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler UK Ltd, said: "The Grand Voyager is a firm favourite in the UK and the new model has all the right ingredients to make it the most successful Chrysler ever.

"Thousands of families already enjoy the benefits of the Stow 'n Go seating system and as yet none of our competitors have been able to answer the one question that all MPV drivers have - 'where do I put the seats when I don't need them?'"

The Stow 'n Go seating and storage system means the Grand Voyager can be transformed from a seven-passenger people carrier to a two-person cargo vehicle in less than 30 seconds. And because all of the seats store in the floor you don't have to struggle to pull the seats out or find space in the garage to store them.

Simon Elliott added: "Offering the new vehicle, with all its features, refinements and an excellent diesel engine is only half the story. The new Chrysler MPV offers excellent value for money with prices starting from £25,995 - the same price as the previous generation model.

"Chrysler will also be offering the Swivel 'n Go seating as an option for the first time on the Grand Voyager Limited. This new seating system will help make the Grand Voyager the ultimate family vehicle!"

The Swivel 'n Go seat system features second-row covered floor storage bins and second-row quad seats that swivel 180 degrees to face rearward for conversational seating. A removable table fits between the second and third rows. A one-touch power-stowing third-row seat with power recline can be adjusted into four different positions with a single push of a button.

The Chrysler Grand Voyager will be available with six-speed automatic transmission and either a 3.8-litre V-6 engine that produces 142 kW (193 hp DIN) at 5,200 rpm and 305 Nm (230 lb.-ft.) of torque at 4,000 rpm, or a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 120 kW (163 hp DIN) at 3,800 rpm and 360 Nm (266 lb.-ft.) of torque at 1800 rpm. Three equipment levels - LX, Touring and Limited will be available.
Chrysler Sebring launching June
The elegant Chrysler Sebring is an evolution of the 2003 Chrysler Airflite concept car, and will offer surprisingly good value for money as well as striking looks when it launches in the UK in June.

Peter Lambert, Managing Director for Chrysler Group UK said: "The Sebring is Chrysler's first offering in the mid-size family car segment, currently dominated by cars like the Ford Mondeo and Honda Accord.

"The Sebring combines an eye-catching design with high levels of safety and reliability, great performance and excellent fuel efficiency and is priced around 10 per cent less than the competition."

The front-wheel drive Sebring will be launched in the UK in June and is priced from £17,995. The new Chrysler is available as a 'Limited' model only and will be offered with two petrol and one diesel engine.

The 2.0-litre petrol engine with a five speed manual gearbox produces 154 bhp and 140 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is a competitive 36.2 mpg*. The 2.4-litre petrol engine is available with an automatic gearbox that generates 167 bhp and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine delivers fuel economy of 45.6 mpg* together with 138 bhp and 229 lb.-ft. of torque from just 1750 rpm, coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Peter Lambert added: "Chrysler Sebring includes a host of new technology and features, ranging from a cutting-edge information, entertainment and communication navigation audio system with a 20Gb hard drive to a heated and cooled front cupholder for keeping hot beverages hot and cool beverages cool! Air conditioning, air filtering, heated leather-trimmed seats and a long list of safety systems including ESP and side-curtain airbags all as standard means the Chrysler Sebring will appeal to the pocket as well as the eye."
Executive class from Chrysler
For 2007, two new models have been launched with significant amounts of extra equipment that help make the award winning Voyager and Grand Voyager even better value for money.

The new 'Executive' model is available with leather upholstery, power sliding doors, heated front seats, overhead rails, rear park assist, chrome grille and 16" inch alloy wheels as standard.

Meanwhile, 'Executive XS' models also feature a rear passenger DVD system, six disc CD changer, power tailgate, headlamp washers, satellite navigation, sunscreen glass and load levelling suspension.

Peter Lambert, Managing Director of Chrysler Group UK, said: "These new models will appeal to motorists wanting a versatile seven-seat vehicle that comes with the class-leading reputation that the Grand Voyager and Voyager family of cars have built-up since their launch over 20 years ago.

"They combine the practicality of a van with the comfort, driveability and efficiency of an estate car."

Grand Voyager Executive models also feature the easy to use Stow 'N Go seat storage system, which allows the second and third row of seats to fold flat into the floor in seconds.

The newcomers - the Voyager 2.4 Executive, Voyager 2.8 CRD Executive, Grand Voyager 2.8 CRD Executive and Grand Voyager 2.8 CRD Executive XS - are available now at Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealerships. Voyager Executive models are priced from £21,975 and Grand Voyager Executive from £28,295.
Chrysler's new 300C SRT-8 delivers sensational performance
Chrysler's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division has given the 300C HEMI an in-depth make-over resulting in a 168 mph performance saloon. The Chrysler 300C SRT-8 is available from August in right hand drive for just £39,040 on-the-road.

With the Chrysler 300C SRT-8, we aim to deliver the ultimate affordable performance saloon, said Peter Lambert, Managing Director of Chrysler Group in the UK. No other manufacturer can bring together the incredible combination of the HEMI engine, the look of the 300C, and SRT technology. Chrysler does just that with the 300C SRT-8, all at unbeatable value. For less than £40,000, the 300C SRT-8 delivers first-class handling and braking, functional exterior enhancements, race-inspired interior appointments and a jaw-dropping 425 horsepower.

The awesome Chrysler 300C SRT-8 is built around an enlarged SRT 6.1-litre HEMI V-8 engine, which generates 85 more horsepower than the 5.7-litre version - a massive 25 per cent power boost, with 420 lb.-ft. of torque compared to the smaller V-8's 387 lb.-ft. This normally aspirated SRT V-8 is the highest specific-output engine ever offered by the Chrysler Group.

The rear-wheel drive Chrysler 300C SRT-8 is capable of impressive performance times - 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds, 1.4 seconds quicker than the 5.7 HEMI.

All SRT vehicles feature a race-inspired interior and performance-oriented exterior features. These include an all-new front fascia, to reduce lift and drag and provide sufficient airflow to meet the increased cooling demands of the larger HEMI engine, unique air intake ducts that help cool the front brakes, specially designed side sill extensions that help to increase downforce, a new rear fascia incorporating two large diameter exhaust tail pipes and five spoke 20-inch forged aluminium wheels.

To match the car's performance characteristics, the 300C SRT-8 offers outstanding ride, handling and braking with an ultra-high performance Brembo racing-style braking system. The SRT-8's unique chassis set-up includes tuned Bilstein dampers, specially tailored spring rates and suspension bushings and larger-diameter anti-roll bars, together with 13 mm lower ride height and a re-tuned ESP system.

Peter Lambert added: No other car comes close to delivering the 300C SRT-8's combination of performance and value. We are sure it will capture the hearts of driving enthusiasts here in the UK and, to maintain the SRT's exclusivity, we will only bring a small number into the UK this year.
New look PT Cruiser Cabrio
Chrysler Group will launch its new right-hand drive PT Cruiser Cabrio in the UK at the end of April 2006 as a spacious four-seat soft-top. Few, if any other, cabrios on sale today can rival the PT for its combination of unique good looks and immense practicality.

With its power-folding, soft retractable roof and versatile cargo-carrying ability, the PT Cruiser Cabrio provides a highly effective way for customers to make a real statement.

Steve Gray, Marketing Director of Chrysler Group in the UK, said: The PT Cruiser Cabrio challenges convention and offers customers a different kind of convertible - it's a genuine four-seater convertible and the engineers have put a lot of thought into making this one of the quietest soft-tops around.

The PT Cruiser Cabrio has been designed as a soft-top from the outset, so drivers will find stability, ride and handling levels that are not typically found in this segment.

The B-pillar mounted Sport Bar is shaped to guide airflow over rear seat passengers and to generate the minimum turbulence and noise. With the exceptionally low levels of noise generated when the roof is lowered, passengers can easily carry on conversations while driving. The added thickness of the three-layer, top-grade standard cloth top and state-of-the-art, best sealing 'smart glass' side windows also reduce road noise when the top is up.

The exterior of the new PT Cruiser Cabrio shares the fresh new look of the hatchback that was launched at the end of 2005. Exterior enhancements include smoother front and rear fascias - including a distinctive front grille with chrome accents and the Chrysler winged badge - and re-styled headlamps that feature a scallop along the bottom edge, plus fresh-look circular front fog lamps.

Nearly all PT Cruiser customers tell us that one of the key reasons they buy a PT is the stunning design, so our designers have made sure that we haven't lost the car's unique looks.

The new exterior is only part of the story - while the all-new interior is quieter and boasts a host of improvements. Unlike any of its convertible competitors, the PT Cruiser Cabrio gives owners the versatility of nine different seating combinations and an unusually large boot, which is 50 per cent larger than that of the VW Beetle.

The interior has a tip-and-slide front passenger seat for easy access to the individually styled twin rear seats. These rear seats can be split 50/50, and folded and tumbled to greatly extend boot space.

In the UK, the PT Cruiser Cabrio is powered by a 2.4-litre, normally-aspirated engine generating 141 bhp. The right-hand drive cabriolet, with five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, will be available at the end of April 2006 priced from £16,650 for the manual and £17,470 for the auto.
Chrysler offers unrivalled value for Dodge Caliber
The new Dodge Caliber is due to arrive in the UK in July - and Chrysler Group has just revealed the stunning price of the first right hand drive Dodge car to come to the UK.

There are four models in the range - S, SE, SXT and SXT Sport - with a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine.

The range starts with the1.8-litre petrol Caliber S priced at £11,495 with a five speed manual gearbox. The Caliber S 2.0-litre diesel with a six speed manual gearbox is priced at £13,495.

Steve Gray, Marketing Director for Chrysler Group UK, said: The new Dodge Caliber is a striking looking car and the Caliber's looks and outstanding value for money will set the segment alight when it launches in July.

All of our research says that drivers are bored with the bland offerings in this part of the market - they want a boldly styled, affordable car. The Caliber is between 10 - 25 per cent cheaper than the equivalent VW Golf when you look at specification but it isn't your typical family hatchback. It combines eye-catching crossover styling with space-efficient packaging, loads of interior space, innovative features and a choice of great engines.

The entry-level S model features fabric seats, power windows, power steering, AM/FM radio with single CD, halogen headlights, heated and powered folding mirrors, driver and front passenger airbags, 60/40 split rear seats that fold flat, tachometer, tilt steering wheel, interior removeable/rechargeable lamp, Thatcham Category 1 security system and 17-inch steel wheels with five-spoke wheel covers as standard.

The 2.0-litre petrol, with a CVT auto at no extra cost, is available in SXT or SXT Sport spec priced from £13,790. The SXT model comes with leather upholstery as standard.

The front-wheel drive Dodge Caliber will be sold in all 88 Chrysler Group dealers in the UK. It is the first of a series of new Dodge products coming into the UK over the next three years. The Dodge Nitro is the brand's first mid-size SUV and will be launched in the UK during 2007. The Nitro is a five-seater SUV that is designed to attract customers seeking a vehicle with distinctive styling, sporty performance and a very flexible interior.
Chrysler unveil Wrangler and Patriot
The Jeep® brand continued its expansion into new territory when the Chrysler Group unveiled two all-new Jeep vehicles at the New York Auto Show 11th April 2006.

The all-new long-wheelbase Jeep Wrangler is the first Wrangler to offer four doors, a diesel engine and space for five adults. It is expected to join the new two-door Wrangler, unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January, in Chrysler Group dealerships in the UK in March 2007.

Steve Gray, Marketing Director for Chrysler Group, said: The Jeep Wrangler has been a firm favourite in the UK for more than a decade, with nearly 5,000 sold since 1993. In the past, the Wrangler has tended to be a car for Jeep enthusiasts, with its classic looks and incredible off-road ability.

From 2007 we will be able to offer two or four doors, better road manners, a new diesel engine and an all-new interior with enough space for all the family - and luggage. This will help us compete much more effectively without compromising on what makes this vehicle a Jeep.

The new Wrangler will also come to the UK with a new petrol engine that offers more power and more torque. The new Jeep benefits from improved aerodynamics, reduced noise levels and a more spacious interior. ESP and side airbags also come as standard together with four-wheel disc ABS brakes.

The Wrangler's on-road characteristics have also been significantly improved with a wider track and longer wheelbase, new steering and 100 per cent stiffer frame. These improvements have not reduced off-road ability - the Wrangler features improved live front and rear axles, extra ground clearance and an electronic disconnecting front sway bar.

The new Jeep Patriot is based on the concept first shown at the Frankfurt Motorshow in 2005. Jeep Patriot combines the packaging and interior flexibility of an SUV with the performance, handling, fuel economy and price of a small family car.

Steve Gray added: The Jeep Patriot reflects the 'Jeep-rugged' design theme and fulfils customers' demands for a modern family car with the credibility and characteristics associated with the Jeep brand name. It is designed to reach younger customers that may not have previously considered the Jeep brand. It is a great on-road car as well as being able to drive off the beaten track.

This rugged looking 'soft-roader' has a brand new all-wheel drive system. The AWD system offers a full-time setting and will offer the driver tangible benefits in every day driving conditions such as wet and icy tarmac.
Jeep trials take test drive customers off-road
An off-road driving day is to be offered to anyone who takes an on-road test drive in a Jeep vehicle from 1 April.

The legendary 4x4 manufacturer will give 4000 people the chance to take part in a Jeep Trials adventure day at events across the UK.

Steve Gray, Chrysler Group Marketing Director, said: Jeep Trials will offer customers the complete Jeep driving experience.

The test drive will demonstrate the vehicle's superb on-road driving dynamics, while the off-road driving day will demonstrate the 4x4 expertise that has made Jeep world-famous.

Test drives are available on the full range of Jeep vehicles, including the all-new Jeep Commander.

The first Jeep to have three rows of seats as standard, the Commander can accommodate up to seven passengers in comfort.

Powered by 3.0-litre V6 CRD diesel or 5.7-litre HEMI V8 petrol engines, depending on model, standard equipment includes ABS, ESP, a tyre-pressure warning light, body-coloured grille and17 alloy wheels.

Prices for the Commander start from £27,490 (OTR).

Other models in the Jeep range include the stylish Jeep Grand Cherokee, rugged Jeep Wrangler and the award-winning Jeep Cherokee.

Dodge Brand's Global Expansion Shifts into High Gear
The introduction of the new Dodge Caliber and Dodge Nitro in Europe and other world markets outside North America marks the arrival of two tough new contenders in the highly competitive C- and mid-size SUV segments, as well as the expansion of a bold new brand. Both of these vehicles will make their European debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Dodge Caliber and Dodge Nitro embody the key attributes of the Dodge brand and make a statement in their respective segments by combining high value with bold styling and flexible interiors. They are designed to appeal to buyers around the world who want Dodge attitude, packaged with capability and versatility combined with the affordability and fuel-efficiency demanded in these markets.

The Dodge brand is all about attitude - it's bold, confident and assertive, said Thomas Hausch, Executive Director, Sales & Marketing, Chrysler International. With its performance reputation and trademark good value, Dodge fits the profile of American brands that work in Europe and other world markets. The new Caliber and Nitro truly personify the unique Dodge brand spirit.

The Dodge Caliber SRT4, will also make its European premiere in Geneva. The Caliber SRT4 is a 'tyre-smoking', 304 horsepower (DIN) 'hot hatch' version of Caliber and it was produced by the Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) group.

The Dodge Brand Marketing Campaign

To support the brand's expansion in markets outside of North America, Dodge will continue a marketing approach that is as unique as the brand itself. Using themes that are closely aligned with the Dodge brand values - bold, powerful, masculine and street smart - the Dodge marketing campaign will employ edgy, innovative and unconventional tactics to highlight the brand's unique appeal and to target specific audiences.

These initiatives, which use viral internet ads, on-line editorial advertising and guerrilla marketing actions, as well as traditional media, will reinforce the personality of the Dodge brand and the unique position of the Dodge Caliber in the international marketplace.

As our product offensive in markets outside North America gains momentum, Chrysler, Jeep® and now Dodge brand vehicles will continue to be presented as distinctly American products that communicate consistent identities from market to market, said Thomas Hausch.

The Dodge brand has its own clear and unmistakable identity and this new campaign will introduce the brand personality to our target audiences - full-of-life, street smart people with strong self-expressive tendencies who like to drive bold, powerful cars and SUVs without 'micro sizing' their bank accounts he added.

Recognize the signs

Continuing the guerrilla marketing strategy that the Dodge brand started at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year, a series of viral advertisements will be released onto the internet - to be passed electronically from person to person - under the banner, Recognize the Signs.

Strengthening the Dealer Network

Chrysler Group will utilise most of its existing infrastructure outside of North America to distribute, sell and service Dodge vehicles. More than 90 percent of dealers will distribute Dodge, which will increase sales volume and variable profit for the dealer body.

Dodge sold almost 1.2 million vehicles in the United States in 2005. Dodge is the fifth-largest nameplate in the U.S. and, with the arrival of the Dodge brand into Europe, Chrysler Group plans to increase its market share in Western Europe to 1.4 percent by 2009.
Jeep® unleashes Cherokee and Grand Cherokee Predator
Jeep will unleash two special editions this January with the launch of the Jeep® Grand Cherokee Predator and Jeep Cherokee Predator.

The Predator features privacy glass and a list of standard equipment that makes the Jeeps more affordable than ever before.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Predator is based on the Limited model and features rear park assist, leather trimmed seats and steering wheel, heated memory seats, power folding door mirrors, chrome grille, tyre pressure monitor, rain sensitive wipers, premium sound system and steering wheel audio controls as standard. The Grand Cherokee Predator with a 3.0-litre CRD engine and 4.7-litre V8 petrol engine is priced at £29,990 (OTR).

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group, said: The third generation Grand Cherokee, launched in 2005, is completely new from the ground up, and has been designed and built to master every imaginable day-to-day driving condition, whether on-road or off-road, in all kinds of weather.

The Jeep Cherokee Predator features a 2.4-litre petrol engine and is priced at £15,990. Based on the Sport model, the Cherokee Predator features 16 inch steel wheels, air conditioning and a single CD as well as privacy glass.

Simon Elliott continued: Jeep has always enjoyed a reputation for its great value and drivers will be able to get their hands on a great Jeep deal at their local Chrysler Group dealer.
Chrysler reveal three stunning new cars
Chrysler Group has unveiled three brand new production cars at the Detroit Auto Show this week - and all three will be coming to the UK in right-hand drive during the next 12 months.

The first of these new vehicles is the Dodge Caliber which will be on sale at Chrysler Group dealers from July. The Dodge Caliber has a sporty coupe-like profile with the distinctive crossbar grille front end found on the Dodge Magnum and Dodge Ram. It will be available with 1.8-litre or 2.0-litre petrol engines or a 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group, said: The family hatchback segment is very competitive, but our market research tells us that customers are tired of the bland offerings in this segment. The Dodge Caliber is boldly designed but will also deliver with affordable pricing, European-style handling and fuel-efficient engines.

Two brand new Jeeps were also revealed at the show and customers in the UK can expect to see both the Jeep Compass and Jeep Wrangler early in 2007.

Simon Elliott continued: These two new Jeeps are designed to reach younger customers who may not have previously considered the Jeep brand. They will have diesel engines and will be great on-road cars as well as being able to drive off the beaten track. It's really exciting that at last customers will be able to boast that they have a 'soft-roader' with a Jeep badge to compete with the Japanese brands.

A brand new all-wheel drive system is a key feature on the Jeep Compass as it offers on-road refinement with the performance, handling and fuel economy of a family car. The AWD system offers a full-time setting and will offer the driver tangible benefits in every day driving conditions such as wet and icy tarmac.

The Jeep Compass reflects the new 'Jeep-modern' design theme and fulfils customers' demands for a modern family car with the credibility and characteristics associated with the Jeep brand name. For customers who want more off-road style and ability, the new Jeep Wrangler reflects the more traditional 'Jeep-rugged' design theme. The Jeep Wrangler may be the icon of the Jeep brand but there is nothing old-fashioned about this all-new vehicle.

The new Wrangler will come to the UK with a diesel engine for the first time plus a new petrol engine that offers more power and more torque. The new Jeep also benefits from improved aerodynamics, reduced noise levels and a much improved and more spacious interior. ESP and side airbags also come as standard together with four-wheel disc ABS brakes. New innovative removable and convertible soft and hard roof options mean the Wrangler hasn't lost any of its classic looks.

The engineers have managed to significantly improve the Wrangler's on-road characteristics with a wider track and longer wheelbase, new steering and 100 per cent stiffer frame. These improvements have not reduced off-road ability - the Wrangler features improved live front and rear axles, extra ground clearance and an electronic disconnecting front sway bar.

These three new vehicles weren't the only stars of the Detroit show. Chrysler gave a glimpse of possible cars of the future with two concept vehicles - the Dodge Challenger and Chrysler Imperial.

The Dodge Challenger is a modern view of the classic American muscle car. Inspired by the classic Challenger of the 1970s the concept is based on the same platform as the Chrysler 300C but boasts very aggressive styling with the signature crossbar Dodge grille and four headlamps deeply recessed into the front of the car. The engine delivers the mega-horsepower muscle with 425 hp from the 6.1-litre HEMI V8 petrol unit.

In contrast the Chrysler Imperial oozes luxury and was inspired by classic Imperials of the 1930s and 1960s. This concept car has a 123 inch wheelbase and is 17 inches longer and six inches higher than the Chrysler 300C. The four occupants sit nearly seven inches higher off the ground in their sumptuous individual seats surrounded by rich wood, leather, suede and satin-finished aluminium. The absence of a B-pillar means that the doors are hinged at the A and C pillar and open like French windows, permitting a dramatic view of the entire interior. A 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine provides a top speed of 160mph and a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds.
2006 will be a huge year for Chrysler and Dodge
2006 will be Chrysler Group's biggest ever year in the UK with no less than six new right-hand drive vehicles going on sale in the first seven months of the year, together with the launch of the new Dodge brand.

Chrysler's award-winning 300C saloon, which has already sold out in the UK this year, will be joined by the 300C Touring estate car in May and a high performance version of the saloon - the Chrysler 300C SRT-8 - will arrive in April.

The 300C SRT-8 features a 6.1-litre HEMI 420hp engine, a top speed of 170mph* and a 0-62mph time of less than five seconds. This high performance engine will also feature in the Grand Cherokee SRT-8, the world's fastest 4x4.

Due to launch in July, the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 features a specially developed full-time 4x4 system that channels 90 per cent of the power to the rear wheels. If sensors detect rear wheel spin torque will then be sent to the front wheels to increase traction. A reprogrammed traction control system, 20-inch wheels and an SRT sports-tuned suspension all help create outstanding ride and handling.

These SRT versions have been developed by Chrysler's 'Street Race Technology' performance division. All SRT vehicles feature powerful engines, unique exterior details, sports suspension and a sports interior.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group, said: We will only bring a small number of the 300C and Grand Cherokee SRT-8 into the UK but these two aren't the only stunning vehicles to be launched next year. The new right-hand drive Chrysler PT Cabriolet will arrive in dealers in March while the all-new Dodge Caliber five-door family hatchback arrives in July.

The Dodge Caliber will be the first of a series of new right-hand drive Dodge products coming into the UK over the next three years. All of our market research suggests that C-segment car buyers are bored with the bland offerings in the market at the moment. The Caliber is a striking looking car that combines great diesel and petrol engines, lots of interior space, European standards of ride and handling plus affordable pricing.

The final new vehicle for Chrysler Group in the UK next year is the new Jeep Commander, a seven-seat version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which launches in April.

Simon Elliott added: Although the new Commander shares the same four-wheel drive system, suspension and powertrains as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it is a very different vehicle.

On the outside, the Commander is less than two inches longer than the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee, even though it is designed to accommodate seven people. On the inside, the three rows of seats are arranged theatre-style while the interior materials and design are different to that found on the Grand Cherokee.

There is no doubt that the Jeep Commander has a unique look and this is increasingly important in today's crowded marketplace. It has been deliberately designed to hark back to the rugged look of the original Cherokee that so many people love.
JEEP® launches 2006 Cherokee
Jeep® has twinned ESP technology with its already proven 4x4 capability to create the ultimate on-road traction system on the new 2006 Jeep Cherokee.

The Jeep Cherokee now comes equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard across the model range. The Sport model also has alloy wheels and a spare wheel cover as standard while the Limited model features sat-nav, part-leather trimmed heated seats and an electric sunroof as standard - and all for less than the 2005 model.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group in the UK said: The 2006 model boasts a host of new standard equipment but without any price increase. In fact, our best selling Limited model gets heated part-leather seats and sat-nav - but is £1035 cheaper than last year!

If drivers are looking for the ultimate in safe and effective driving this winter they should look no further than the Jeep Cherokee. The four-wheel drive system already provides outstanding traction on wet or icy tarmac - adding a skid control system like ESP means that customers can enjoy their car with the added peace of mind that they are in one of the most capable cars on the road.

Already awarded four stars by Euro NCAP, the new Jeep Cherokee's standard safety features include ESP, ABS, driver and front passenger airbags, side impact protection guards, a tyre pressure warning system and on the Limited, side curtain airbags.

The Jeep Cherokee is available with either a 2.8-litre CRD diesel engine with manual or automatic transmission or 3.7-litre V6 petrol auto. Prices for the Cherokee Sport 2.8 CRD (manual) start at £19,890 and £22,490 for the Limited 2.8 CRD (manual).

All Cherokee models are covered by the comprehensive Jeep warranty scheme, which provides a three-year/60,000 mile mechanical warranty, seven-year anti-corrosion warranty and 12 months' European roadside assistance.

The ESP computer maintains increased stability by continuously comparing the actual behaviour of the vehicle with pre-programmed reference values. The moment the car deviates from its ideal line, the specially developed control logic triggers immediate intervention in the form of precisely controlled braking at one or more wheels and/or a reduction in engine power. The braking counteracts the critical rotational movement and restores stability. The system is of particular value when driving on mixed surfaces including snow, ice and gravel.

Unlike acceleration skid control, ESP® is in operation under all conditions, whether braking, accelerating or coasting. The stabilisation is an ongoing process and is continuously adapted to take account of the movements of the vehicle in any given situation, until the risk of skidding is eliminated.

The Cherokee is now the second Jeep to have ESP as standard along with the Grand Cherokee. An additional feature of the Jeep ESP system is ERM (Electronic Roll Mitigation). This is an extension of ESP which uses the ESP sensors to anticipate if the vehicle is entering a potential roll situation. It applies the brakes individually and modulates throttle position as needed to attempt to avoid the roll situation.

Cruising in style
Style is everything when buying the retro 'hot-rod' PT Cruiser said Steve Grey, marketing director of Chrysler Group UK, this week at the introduction to the UK press of their revised 2006 Cruiser range.

From their survey of current PT Cruiser owners Steve Grey said the three top reasons why customers had bought a PT Cruiser all included a reference to style.

He added, Ninety seven per cent said they like cars with unusual styling, 85 per cent said they like cars which attract attention and 82 per cent said they like looking at beautiful cars.

The current UK customer profile survey also shows us that the number of male buyers has increased to 70 per cent and the retired ownership has rocketed from just 6 per cent to 21 per cent.

Responding to who actually buys a PT Cruiser Steve Grey said, We have a broad spread of owners - arty bohemian types to out and out style enthusiasts and everybody in between. They can live in the town or country or in any part of the UK, there is no pattern.

The one thing that pulls all these customers together is they love the unique styling of the car and on average customers buy two of these cars before moving on to a different type of vehicle.

Chrysler expects the current PT Cruiser concept to have at least another five years of model life.

Grey said, We see the PT Cruiser as a five-door hatchback selling in the C segment of the new car market. However our car is more than just a hatchback. It has 32 seating configurations with up to 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space, one cubic foot less than a Jeep Grand Cherokee. By folding down the front passenger seat you can carry items up to eight feet in length when needed.

The C segment is worth 750,0000 new car sales a year in the UK and it includes such diverse models as medium-sized MPVs, such as the Citroen Picasso and Vauxhall Zafira, through to conventional hatchbacks such as the VW Golf and Ford Focus.

Launched globally in 2000 world sales of the PT Cruiser, which is built in Mexico, have reached the one million mark with 120,000 of those being sold in Western Europe. The UK is the largest European market for the PT Cruiser with 20,000 sales to date.

In 2006 Chrysler Group expect to sell 2,700 PT Cruisers in the UK with the five door hatchback body shape and a further 900 right hand drive Cabrio versions after they go on sale in March 2006.

The launch of the re-styled range gives the Cruiser minor exterior changes, including a new grille in keeping with the new face of Chrysler but an all-new interior and a more powerful and fuel-efficient diesel engine are the key changes expected to attract more sales. The 2.4-litre petrol unit is unchanged.

Sales have fallen in the UK from a high of 3,628 sales in 2003 down to an expected level of 2,500 this year. Currently 40 per cent of sales are for the diesel model but this will increase to 50 per cent with the new 2.2-litre, 148bhp Mercedes sourced engine. The 141bhp petrol engine remains in the line-up.

Grey said prices have not risen despite the styling and other technical changes and the provision of a much more powerful and Euro IV compliant diesel engine.

Prices range from £12,995 to £17,225. Two special-action Route 66 models are introduced, 100 in black and 50 in bright yellow. The petrol model is priced at £15,440 and the diesel at £16,640. An £800 automatic transmission option is available for 2.4-litre petrol Touring, Limited and Route 66 variants. An electric sunroof for Limited variants costs £500.
New look and engine for 2006 PT Cruiser
Exterior enhancements include smoother front and rear fascias - including a distinctive front grille with chrome accents and the Chrysler winged badge - and re-styled headlamps that feature a scallop along the bottom edge, plus fresh-look circular front fog lamps. A new discrete body-colour spoiler on the hatchback's tailgate roof reduces drag and improves aerodynamics.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler Group UK, said: The exterior of the latest PT Cruiser has been freshened up for 2006 but our designers have made sure that we haven't lost the car's unique looks. Nearly all PT Cruiser customers tell us that one of the key reasons they buy a PT is the stunning design. A special edition - the 'Route 66' makes an even stronger visual statement with bright yellow paint, a large spoiler and big alloy wheels.

The new exterior is only part of the story - the new diesel engine generates 25 per cent more power than the old unit, while the all-new interior is quieter and boasts a host of improvements. And all of these changes have been made without increasing the price from 2005!

The new PT Cruiser hatchback will be available in the UK in November with 150hp 2.2-litre CRD and 141hp 2.4-litre petrol engines. On the road prices for the Chrysler PT Cruiser Hatchback start at £12,995 for the 2.4 manual and £15,325 for the automatic. Prices for the diesel manual start at £14,225.

The stunning limited edition 'Route 66' Chrysler PT Cruiser hatchback will be available from November with both petrol and diesel engines. The 'Route 66' is based on the Touring model and is only available in Black or Solar Yellow. Additional features include 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, lowered sports suspension, large rear spoiler, body coloured grille, chrome exhaust and Solar Yellow coloured brake callipers. The 2.4-litre manual 'Route 66' is priced at £15,440 and the auto is £16,240. The 2.2-litre diesel manual version costs £16,640.

Simon Elliott added: The PT Cruiser Cabrio is a spacious four-seat soft-top and few, if any other cabrios on sale today can rival this car for its combination of stunning good looks, inspiring performance and immense practicality.

The right-hand drive PT Cruiser Cabrio will arrive in the UK in March 2006 with the 2.4-litre petrol engine. Pricing for the Cabrio has yet to be confirmed.
